WKS: UNITED NATIONS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

What are the three (3) things that you significantly learned from the video lesson and classroom discussion? Please start by saying ‘ Before reading the article, I used to think that (insert thought). After reading, watching the video lesson and or classroom discussion, I now think that (insert thought)’.
Before reading the article, I used to think that each country has their own way of solving their own problems. I thought that they only have their own goals just for their own country. I was not that aware of what is happening around the world especially in this time of Pandemic.
After the class discussion, I realized that this Pandemic has brought big problems globally. It has a big impact in different aspects which resulted every country to unite to achieve the 17 goals that can help us to be back on our track. In those goals, we must take more actions right away instead of just planning everything.
What three (3) questions that you want to ask about the topic?
Are the people from each country aware of these goals?
Do you think they will follow or go against these goals?
Is it possible to achieve these goals?
What changes in your lifestyle/beliefs happened after learning about the topic (specify topic). Show proof, photos, real-life examples.
The photos above are examples of people that I sometimes see whenever I go out. Whenever I encounter people like them, I always feel nervous and scared because of what happened before. When I was in highschool, I was with my friends when a group of kids and 1 adult went to us and asked for money. Our money that time was just enough for our fare so we told the kids that we don’t have money. Instead of going away, they suddenly scooped their saliva and threatened us that if we won’t give them money, they will wipe their saliva on our clothes. Luckily a guard went to us and saved us from those kids.
After learning about the topic, I realized that we should be more understanding to their situation. We have different situations in life and I think they did those things because they were just hungry and needed food. Instead of giving them money, we must give food for them. Caring for them is one way of showing that we care not just for the people but for our country as well.
What are your reflections after this lesson?
Out of all the 17 goals, the goal that I can contribute to as of now is the Zero Hunger. We are surrounded with people that has different social status. We can see homeless people on the streets with no food to eat. We can always visit them and hand them foods so that they will be able to survive especially this Pandemic. It is the least we can do to them. Let us share the blessings we receive to them and show that we care for them.
How did this lesson affect your personal goals?
This lesson has given me realizations that affected my personal goals. It opened my eyes and show empathy to people who are less fortunate. When I graduate and have a stable job, I will never forget to help them.
What materials did you read about after learning about this topic? (provide photos, links to websites that keep your interest in learning more about the topic.

What do you understand so far?
SDG focuses on different aspects that ensures the wellness of the people in different countries. Their priority is to give the basic needs of the people such as foods, water, shelter, and even jobs that will sustain their living. It is also giving equal and fair treatment to people with different gender and social status, giving them the opportunities that they needed.
What do you find puzzling, difficult or contradictory?
For me, goal 9 seems contradictory with goal 14 and 15. If their goal is to build more infrastructure then it will surely affect the life in both water and land. We should also think of the living animals around us, they also need shelter and a source of food. They must generate a better solution or idea on how they would address this contradictory situation/goals.
What new knowledge, skills or understanding have you gained during the process of writing your learning journal?
At first, I was really having a hard time using WordPress because this is also my first time using this and also I was just using my phone. While writing my learning journal, it freshens up my mind and made me remember about the topic that we discussed last meeting. I think that SDG will be really helpful as long as we cooperate and be open about the things that might change around us. We should take more actions instead of just planning or talking about it. And as a student, we may not be able to have big contributions to our society but the least we can do is to help those people in need, especially the homeless people we see everywhere.
